Interview at Oxfam

Today I had my interview with Oxfam, at Wastesaver in Batley.
When I received an invitation for an interview at Oxfam, I didn’t really know what to expect and didn’t think I would learn much in relation to the fashion industry at the placement. However, as I have a passion for up cycling, I thought it was worth a try.
At the interview, I was first given a tour of the site, which was a lot bigger than I had thought as it’s in a warehouse. I was then given a 10 minute task of picking out 15 items of on trend clothing that could be posted on the website the following week. As it was winter and coming up the the Christmas period, I decided to go for outfits in the style of thick velvet material and long party dresses, in the colours bottle green, burgundy, gold and of course black. I found this task very interesting and enjoyed searching through the rails for clothes of a certain style. I finished my task with plenty of time to spare and then went on to the actual interview where we spoke about what the job would entail, my passions and why I would be great for the job. My interviewer seemed very interested in the volunteer work I had done in the past with the Christian Union and enjoyed looking through the portfolio of the work I had brought along.

I was pleasantly surprised at how interested I was for this placement when I left. Although the day to day jobs seem mundane, I feel this placement offers up many opportunities to get involved with different projects that I could gain experience from.
