Super Learning Day

As mentioned previously, every so often STWCC has a super learning day, where for one full day, all lessons are put aside and each year group focus entirely on one project. This time the technology team were given year 9s for the day to focus on the 100 year anniversary of ww1.
We started the day by watching a youtube video about the first world war and all the wars since then. After that, to get the students thinking, we sent sent them out into the hallway with pens and post-sticks to write their own thoughts and opinions on the questions we'd stuck on the walls, such as 'who does war affect' and 'has war influenced technology'.
When starting on the display board I was put in charge of a group of students creating poppys out of fabric, paper and buttons. These were then used to decorate the '100' on the memorial board to look like a reef.
I also helped to sand down the wooden numbers and letters after they had been cut, and spray painted the numbers.

It was great to see the memorial board once it had all been put together and even nicer to see the proud look on the students faces as they realised what amazing work they had been a part of.
