Yesterday I realised my emails haven't been working and I have received a post-interview project brief from Christy Garments, leaving me with just a day to complete it. Unfortunately that meant I also had to travel to Huddersfield and use the university computers, as I don't yet have Illustrator at home.
I decided, from experience, the best way to start a project was research. Firstly I got in touch with parents I knew and asked what kind of features they look for when buying baby clothes. I then thought it was important to research existing products in the market to find what has already been done and what I could do better.
Despite not being very familiar with Illustrator, I managed to learn what I needed from CAD lesson notes and the internet to complete the task to the best of my ability. I used the colours selected from the brief to design a baby boys quilted coat. Although I am happy with my outcome I still feel I would have done a lot better given the time.

Christy Garments Interview
Today I had my interview at Christy Garments, my first interview after finding out my workshop placement at Oh Sew Sweet was cancelled. Although Christie Garments is a children’s clothing company, I was very nervous as this was my first fashion related interview and my work from university is not very fashion orientated.
I felt the interview went very well and the people interviewing me seemed very happy with my portfolio and what I had to say. However, the placement isn't exactly what I expected as they are wanting someone to design the actual garments themselves rather than the patterned material for the garments, meaning my designing would be more outline work. Although this is different to what I had hoped for, this placement would still be an amazing opportunity to learn more about the fashion industry.
